Illustrator Heather Bassler Zemien
Heather has spent the last 28 years working in the arts in various ways; instructing in art techniques in schools and senior care centers.
She has a degree in Graphic Design and has illustrated another children’s book, Final Rounds, by Gary Legwold.
She is starting her 17th year teaching art at PEASE Academy high school, where she and Sheila met. Heather brings her passion for art therapy with her wherever she goes, whether making signs for her yard, volunteering for community arts projects, or envisioning and bring to life her favorite character, Isabella.

Author Sheila Path-McMahon
Sheila’s first experience writing was in high school. She was in the first improv show at Robbinsdale Cooper high school, directed by Ert Jones-Hermerding, who changed her life by sparking a life long passion for theater, writing, and teaching.
She has written several plays and a novel and now three children’s books in the Isabella Cat in the City series illustrated by Heather Bassler Zemien, as well as several texts for children’s books that she is working on illustrating herself.
She is currently a high school English teacher at McKinley Lakeside Learning Academy. She holds a BA in English and Theater Arts from the University of Minnesota and a BS in Reading and Literacy from Capella University.
